12,000 mile bicycle trip!
Yesterday afternoon (31st May 2009), Alan Wells and Ian Mowbray-Williams left on their 12,000 mile cycle trip from the London Eye to Cape Town, South Africa.
EPX Technical Services has been proudly supporting the Eye-on-Africa team by not only maintaining their website throughout the project, but also providing technical support and advice for their trip. This includes supplying a web-based GPS tracking system, online message board to keep every one posted with their progress and a messaging system to allow friends, family and supporters to email them with messages of support.
Alan and Ian left from the base of the London eye at 1300 on the 31st May 2009 with the plan to finish their trip in about 13 months - arriving in Cape Town just in time for the World Cup. They are travelling over 2 continents and through 30 counties and just for fun, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro on the way, Africa's tallest mountain.
The reason why? Firstly, because they can. Secondly, to raise money for ChildReach International, a charity that supports children throughout Africa and the rest of the world. During their trip, Alan and Ian will be stopping at many ChildReach projects to see work done by this charity. The target they are hoping to reach and exceed is £10,000. Just a little light relief from your day....
There are two sausages in a pan. The first sausage says to the second, "it's hot in here". The second sausage screams "ARGH!...... it's a talking sausage!".
